Rack and Pinion ActuatorStockton Valve carries many brands of Rack and Pinion Actuators: both in Double Acting and Spring Return.  Rack and Pinion Actuators provide an economical way to obtain optimal control of valve rotation. A rack and pinion actuator is a type of linear actuator that comprises a pair of gears which convert rotational motion into linear motion. The circular pinion engages teeth on a linear “gear” bar – the rack. Rotational motion applied to the pinion will cause the rack to move to the side, up to the limit of its travel. Rack and pinion combinations are often used as part of a simple linear actuator, where the rotation of a shaft powered by hand or by a motor is converted to linear motion. The rack carries the full load of the actuator directly and so the driving pinion is usually small, so that the gear ratio reduces the torque required. This force, thus torque, may still be substantial and so it is common for there to be a reduction gear immediately before this by either a gear or worm gear reduction. Rack gears have a higher ratio, thus require a greater driving torque, than screw actuators.

XOMOX® XRP Pneumatic Rack & Pinion Actuators

Xomox XRP Rack and Pinion Actuator

Stockton Valves is the largest stocking distributor of the XOMOX XRP Pneumatic Rack & Pinion Actuators. Current inventory includes torque output from 500 to 27,000 in lbs and up to 100,000 in lbs available from the XOMOX factory. The unique features of  XOMOX XRP Pneumatic Rack & Pinion Actuators include a balanced pinion which does not require an external clip to prevent the pinion from blowing out. The XRP also has individual single point adjustment for both the CW and CCW directions and 98 degrees of total travel on the most popular sizes.
